On Friday we covered a current event in class over the rising tensions between Iran and the United States. Iran claims it is planning to enrich Uranium to make nuclear energy but the U.S. believes it intends to make nuclear weapons. We used this topic to lead into our first formal debate of the year. The question we debated in class today was, "Should the U.S. be able to tell other countries they should not have nuclear weapons.?" I hope everyone was able to give their own opinion but also be open enough to listen to the opinions of others. Your assignment is to write a 3-5 sentence comment on this post. Your comment should include your final opinion to the question above and why you believe that. Remember to be respectful and honor one another's thoughts. Also space and write your full name under every comment you leave. Your comments are due by class on Thursday.
No, they should not because the US is more powerful than many other countries for their supplies. The US has also helped other countries in protection and supplies. If they let them also their could be an accident and cause harm. The conclusion to this is if we don't let them use nuclear weapons harmless people will be safe.

Yes,if they are asking for our resources to make them. We don't have to let anyone have them if they are a threat to us. We are glad to let countries we can trust not to use them against us. Since Iran wants it we wont because they are a threat

Yes, the U.S. should be able to tell other countries that they can not have nuclear weapons because they could be a threat to us. The U.S. wants to protect it's citizens. I for one don't trust Iran espically not with nuclear weapons. The U.S has the resources we need to beat Iran if we went to war, but it is better to prevent war by not allowing Iran to make nuclear weapons.

Yes, I believe that the U.S. has the right to tell other countries that they should not have nuclear weapons. Once they show the rest of the world that they can be trusted they may have the right to have nucler weapons. I think the the United Nations should decide who and when the other countries should get the weapons. Mary Grace Price
ReplyDeleteI believe that the U.S. should sometimes be able to tell other Countries.I think of this because for example the Muzlems and Terrerest cant be trusted for one reason because of 911.I think that some counties can be trusted because they show responsiblity of handeling nuclear weapons like this.For some countries I think maybe because we dont really know if they can be trusted.

Yes, I think the U.S. has the right to tell Iran that they can't make nuclear energy because they are a threat to us. The U.S. has had tension with Iran for a long time and Iran would probably make nuclear weapons which could kill tons of innocent people. We have to defend ourselves and others who may not be able to protect themselves

i think that the U.S. does not have the right to tell other countries that theycant have nuclear anything.I think that because that would be mean if only the U.S. have nuclearpower and weapons.Although their is a resonable rason to let other trusted countrieshave the nuclear resoures.

Yes, because what happened September 11, 2001 was very bad. Many people were killed. They could use it for really bad things like creating nuclear bombs. One bomb could wipeout all of houston. It is hard to trust them.

I think that the U.S. has the right to tell Iran that they cant make nuclear weapons. The reason is that we need to protect out country and other more vulnerable countries. But, even though we make nuclear weapons, we use them more for protection than attacking, as far as I know.

Yes, because we are stronger and are wealthier so we can buy all of their resources, or we can win a battle if they want to fight.
